Ivan Stankevich: In Japan, a man with a knife attacked a group of schoolgirls at a bus stop. He injured at least 19 people
According to media reports, he injured about 20 people, including 13 primary school students aged 6 to 7. At least two people were reported dead.
According to unconfirmed information, the man was about 40-50 years old. He died in hospital from his injuries. The police reported that the suspect's identity and motives had not yet been established.
According to Japanese media reports, ambulance personnel have set up an orange tent at the scene where they provide first aid to victims and to police and other officials transporting wounded persons to ambulances.
After the attack, Japan's Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Masahiko Shibayama, promised to strengthen the security of educational institutions and school routes.
