Can Twitter Generate Sales for a B2B Website?

Initially designed for personal relationships, Twitter has become a strong networking device for companies to communicate with a broad audience, shape and steer conversations and more importantly, generate sales. 3.Exposure to B2B tweets has better conversion rates. While a mere 4% of your average Internet visitor completes sign-ups on a b2b website, Compete found that registered Twitter users tend to convert at almost 11%.

How b2b advertisers foster success with Tweets

Ring Central was looking to appeal to a broader range of clients and specifically increase brand awareness among potential b2b customers. The company promoted with tweets about their products and services with links to their b2b website.

In just the first month, remarks and brand recognition increased by 92 percent and website traffic increased 259 percent, all from social referrals from Twitter. Not bad considering Ring Central paid close to $0 for this marketing strategy.

Creating an Effective Marketing Channel

The biggest mistake most business-2-business marketers make is failing to use Twitter as a pure marketing channel. The first step to promotion is optimizing your profile to get your name in front of prospects:

  1. Promote your brand by optimizing your profile; Use your logo as your profile picture; your brand name as your username; your brand name on your Twitter biography; and use your brand name as your hashtag to include in tweets.
  2. Use Twitter search to find people using your target keywords in their profiles, hashtags and tweets; You can locate those dissatisfied with competing products and they become potential consumers, so check their profiles, follow them and offer a solution to their problem.
